In this quiz, a troll is an account that lies about its identity and pretends to be someone it’s not. A human is an account that really is who they claim to be (even if they may be lying about other things!).

Most troll accounts, including those you will see in this quiz, are operated by professionals with a specific agenda. Some want to spread political lies or propaganda. Others engage in financial fraud. All desire to deceive you.

Each of the following eight profiles includes a brief selection of posts from a single social media account. Review the profiles and engage with the content, then decide if each account either genuinely represents the person running it or is a professional troll account lying about who they are. Remember, trolls work to look like real people, and real people can often act like trolls.

After each profile, we will tell you if you were right or wrong and then share signs that can help you in the future.
